We are from Germany, living & working in Freiburg im Breisgau, located southwest of the state of Baden-Württemberg at the western foothills of the Black Forest. We intend to provide information on how hikers as well as solo travelers can experience the impressive picturesque landscapes in the Black Forest region of Germany accessing the comprehensive network of public transport available.
More about the Schwarzwald Travelers
Hi, this is Tirtha. I was born and educated in India. Later the pursuit of knowledge and skills combined with the desire to travel made me immigrate to Germany. It has been a rollercoaster journey from Kolkata to Berlin to Heilbronn to Freiburg.
With the onset of the pandemic in early 2020 followed by the restrictions imposed on traveling abroad as well as to other countries within Europe, I started exploring the nearby Black Forest region together with my colleague Bettina.
Bettina grew up in the Kaiserstuhl region and she speaks the local Badisch dialect. Apart from being one of the nicest and delightful humans I have known, she is quite an excellent photographer. Several of the photos published on this website have been taken by her with her smartphone.
As we started exploring, both of us soon discovered our passion for hiking and wanderlust, and of course, it didn’t take us long to develop hiking as a hobby. An additional advantage for me apart from experiencing the serene beauty of the magnificent Black Forest is the ‘Deutsch Unterricht’ or the ‘Bildungsausflug’ which is more like an educational excursion not only developing the ability to speak the German language but also getting to know the local culture.
This website is a small effort to commemorate some of our most picturesque hikes together in the Black Forest region of Germany in addition to some of our solo travels. We made sure that the starting point is always accessible by public transport and hope the readers find the provided information useful.
