The Jägersteig is a premium circular hiking trail that offers wonderful views of the Schluchsee – the largest lake in the Black Forest. The paths through the forests are idyllic, varied, sometimes narrow, and provide several vantage points thereby offering scenic and impressive views of the enchanting landscape. Of course, the most magnificent panoramic view is offered by the Bildstein which is the highest vantage point on the Schluchtesnsteig. On a pleasant sunny day, if the visibility is good, it is possible to see as far as the Alps. The Bildstein rock is already 400 million years old and dates from the Devonian period. Besides, there is a lot to discover. The initial sparse coniferous forests soon give way to mixed forests with forest floors and rocks covered with moss. Depending on the season, you can witness the beautiful blooming wildflowers, butterflies, or vibrant colors of autumn. The Jägersteig can also be hiked as a snowshoe trail in winter.
